Hi Santos,
I have in the past employed unsupported Grad Students from Engineering on a=
n hourly basis and also upper level Undergraduate Students.
Unfortunately, many of the out of department Grad Students are persistent a=
bout trying to negotiate the job into an Assistantship.
Their persistence, even though they have been told it wouldn't happen, beco=
mes very tiring after awhile.

Tappers,
Almost all universities have the problem of too many classes and labs and n=
ot enough teachers (for the lectures) and grad teaching assistants (for the=
rec/ labs).
Presently, we have 24 student recitation and lab rooms and large classrooms=
(156 student). The lecture courses are 4 credit hour (3 hours/week for lec=
ture and 1 hour recitation and 2 hour laboratories per week).
The question is: how can we teach the recitation/lab sections (127) with le=
ss TAs.
Has anyone on this list dealt with this problem and what was done?
All suggestions will be appreciated!
