Subject: PASCO charge-to-mass ratio apparatus

PASCO has an apparatus that allows students to measure the charge-to-mass
ratio of electrons (SE-9638). It uses a 6.3 volt AC power supply to heat the
electron source.

The question is this: Does it have to be AC, or could a DC power supply be
used to heat the electron source?

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
