If you want to demonstrate smoke rings in class, I highly recommend one of these toys:



It makes really nice smoke rings. The smoke comes from heating "fog fluid" available in any party supply store. The ring is created by a spring-loaded thumper hitting a rubber membrane. Mine is about 5 years old and still works fine.
