nope. The gyro provides an earth stable reference and its output is used to
measure the ship's 'attitude' (Subjective, not emotive, i.e. really po'd
when shooting or not...) relative to the reference. This is fed into the
firing computer to decide when to fire. The movement of the ship is not
controlled by the gyro.

OK guys, suppose there are no guns involved, so that we are not talking
about action and reaction. Is it the effect of the gyro to convert,
side-to-side motion, to fore and aft motion which would be of less
amplitude, but would still be energy-absorbing?

Sorry, guys, due to sheer e-mail volume I deleted all those titled,
Action-Reaction.
Now I am wondering whether you already discussed the process whereby the
gyro would actually damp out the side-to-side rocking of a ship. I have long
thought that there must be a frictional band on the axis of the gyro. Is
