Howdy all,

My $0.02 worth on the matter - also probably off topic...

My only complaint about "An Inconvenient Truth" is that Al Gore was the messenger. I'm not saying that he did a bad job of presenting the science of global warming & climate change to the general layperson - in fact, he did a pretty good job. The problem is that there are so many people out there hung up Gore's politics that they're going to look at the science and claim it is politicized. And in that atmosphere of politicization, there are many people who will simply dismiss the solid science of climate change as partisan spin. Likewise, it should be noted that there are those who will revere Gore as someone who has the "last word" on such topics, and that can also be a detrimental kind of politicization.

All in all though, I give him a general "thumbs up" for bringing the issue up - at least it has people discussing a pertinent scientific topic instead of the latest on Michael Vick or Lindsay Lohan :P

In any case, for an excellent synopsis of the current state of global warming and climate change research, check out these articles. I really like these articles because they address valid questions & challenges brought up by some who have been skeptical of climate change research and the most recent conclusions.

Nicely stated, Urs. It's important to remember that Al Gore is just
a messenger. He is just letting us know what scientists have found out,
and trying to speed up the process by which scientific results filter down
to the general population. I'm sure he is hoping that, in so doing,
governments will begin to respond more seriously to the threat of global
climate change. I believe, when all is said and done, we will be thankful
that he did this...
