membership via Paypal or Credit card!

Hello Tappers,
=20
Greetings from PIRA. The energy barrier to joining
or renewing your membership has now been reduced
to almost zero.=20
=20
I have finally set up a Paypal account for PIRA
that will allow people to pay their membership
dues using either their Paypal account (if they
have one) or a major credit card.
=20
All you need to do is go to the PIRA web site
(listed below), click on Join PIRA and then on the
button Add to Cart. You will be taken to a
checkout page where you can pay your dues whether
you are joining for the first time or renewing.
=20
Dues online will cost $11 instead of the standard
$10 in order to defray the transaction costs. I
would also argue that the time saved and the
convenience of not having to write and post a
check for $10 are surely worth it. This also has
the benefit making it much easier for people
living outside the US to join or renew as
international charges are also accepted.
=20
I also invite those on Tap-L, lurking and
otherwise who are not members to consider joining.
All the money collected from dues are used in
support of PIRA's mission which keeps growing
every year. PIRA's stature in the AAPT and the
physics community has also grown and membership is
an excellent way to increase your network of
contacts, get involved with the physics education
community and if I may be so bold, further your
professional development.
=20
If you are not sure of your membership status,
please feel free to contact me and I will let you
know. Some of you may have just gotten one of my
dunning emails though hopefully this new payment
method will make them less frequent and less
necessary.=20
=20
I can report that Michael Thomason was the first
to try the new method and it worked perfectly.
=20
I look forward to hearing from many new
members...as well as you old ones.
=20
Cheers!
=20
-Stephen.
