Greetings Warren,

I was just getting ready to email you when your excellent ideas were
listed.

I have one that might be added to the list.

When teachers get back into their schools they may be without equipment.
I am wondering how much equipment is setting unused in high school and
college shelves. When a teacher is looking for equipment, they could
post it on the PTRA Listserve, Tap-L Listserve or others that I am not
aware of. People could respond if they could fill the need. This might
go through a clearing house so that duplication is held to a minimum.

I will be posting this on the Tap-L Listserve.

Also, teachers could compile files that might be placed on a web site
that all could access.

In the next few days we will be putting up a web page to help teachers
locate part-time positions until they can return to their classrooms.
This could be in a high school so if anyone knows of vacancies that
could be temporarily filled by a displaced physics teachers, please be
ready to post that position when the website becomes available.

We are also going to ask college and university physics departments to
consider bringing in a displaced high school teacher for the rest of the
semester or year as a teacher in residence in their departments. They
might get involved in research projects or in teacher preparation
programs.

Again we plan on having this available early next week at
www.compadre.org

Greetings,

Glad to hear that you and family are ok.

Suggestion: Are there any of us that are no longer teaching who would be
willing to give some time to help Larry and other PTRA's who could use
some extra hands to.....

Any thoughts?

Dick

PTRA,

We, Vicky and I, and a neighbor left Sun morn. We are safe in Illinois
with planned visits to other daughters in Ohio and Virginia.

It was a catastrophy waiting to happen as many knew. There is no solace
in knowing that this is not the absolute worst senario.

There are many things that human kind can do and change, others beyond
our control.

In addition to the great tragety of loss of life and property, a very
large portion of the city's professionals, service and laborours are not
there and will not be there for many months.

The city will never be the same.

The American Red Cross would be an efficient distributor of funds.

Larry
