I would remove the heating elements and mica supports completely. They
introduce so much turbulence into the air stream and slow down the velocity.

I got my hair dryer from target several months ago when one of our retired
teachers requested a hair dryer for his Bernoulli's demo. There are a lot of
brands and options. I picked one which has the same functions as you
described: high power and heater can be turned off. I just tried the dryer
with two ping-pong balls. You need practice a little bit then can make the
balls up in air for a couple of seconds. The dryer's brand is CONAIR, the
model is 1002DB. I believe you can find better ones, but need more patience
to look around.
