I'd like to set up an oscilloscope and microphone to measure the speed
of sound in a solid (like aluminum). Does anyone have a detailed
description on how to set it up? I'd like to use it as a demo on Wed
but don't have much time between now and then to play with it. So a
detailed description is probably necessary for me right now. I figure
that it requires triggering the scope on the initial "clang" of the
pipe and then measuring the time between this wave and the one picked
up by the mic. However, I haven't worked with external triggering
before.

Thanks so much,
