Thanks, Urs. Your answere helped to cover most of my questions.

Like you, I also need to digitize my old video collection. Once they are digitized and stored as mpegs or some other format then they are permanently recorded and the faculty can make edits and show the clips with thier computers.

Also, my trustworthy Hi8 Camcorders are 10 years old now. I use them every day for general use to project demonstrations to the class and I should get someting new.

I like the Sony DCR-TRV39.

Jerry you are so welcome

BTW: I have never gotten an answer for my AAPT 2003 summer meeting
presentation request from Karl Trappe, although I have sent him a mail.
There seems to be no interest or it was too late, although I actually have
announced that I will spent the entire summer 2003 in Austin Texas. So now
it looks as if I won't be making it to Madison. With a formal invitation
for a presentation the travel and boarding expenses would most likely be
covered by my institution, but with no invitation I would have to pay
privately for it and I am not going for it.

I would have liked to see you all again, but I guess it is not going to
happen this time. Please do give my best to everyone I know from the 2001
Rochester meeting. I have very good memories from that time and I really
enjoyed meeting you all. I will arrive in Austin on July 21st and am
expected to stay until October 12th. I will take the last two weeks off to
travel a bit through the Southwest to visit some old friends. I will let
you know my address and phone in Austin in case you want to reach me when I
am in the US.

Take care and thanks for everything

Urs

Oops Jerry and Karl

This was supposed to go only to Jerry and not to the list.

BUT it seems to late now and I have to specially apologize to Karl for the
error. At least
he and everyone else allready know now that I won't be making it to Madison
this summer.

No offence to anyone intended, please forgive me the unthoughtful mailing
error.
