Post:

I've never heard of Pasco's Lab Pro. We've used Pasco's Science Workshop for
the past five years running under Win98. This year we upgraded our lab
computers and are now running under Win 2000. Only then did we discover that
Science Workshop doesn't run under Win 2000, so we had to order Data Studio.
Although their Teachers Guide covers both Science Workshop and Data Studio,
we assume that Pasco intends DS as an upgrade to SW.

Unfortunately, we wrote our lab manual with Science Workshop in mind; so now
we're having to revise all 30 experiments in the manual. We're discovering
some changes in DS for tasks such as setting sensor sampling rates,
calibrating sensors, and setting display precision. A particular problem I'm
having is in using a photogate to measure the period of a pendulum. DS wants
to measure the time interval between gate interruptions by the bob -- I
can't figure out how to tell it to double that interval to display the
period.
