Jerry, Sammy, and all,

Basically, as you can tell, I am trying to make a low cost photoelectric
type demo with easily aquired parts. We are using a flashlight and a set
of filters for the source. This works OK with the IP39 tube so now we are
trying to find something cheaper that gives the same kind of response.
Most of the solar cells that I have come with a specs sheet that has a
response curve. The curve shown is similar to the IP39 response curve.
HOWEVER, the solar cells themselves do not follow this curve. They are
pretty much maximum response no matter what the color of light. This
leads me to believe that the literature that comes with the solar cells
may have been correct for the original GaAs cells but that they have not
been updated for the new technology cells.

Still looking for the correct solar cell in Iowa,
