Subject: CHAT: WTC discussion.
Greetings to all,
I think our discussions on the terrorist attack on the WTC are natural
and healthy. And, let me add, I have no doubt that most of you were as
moved as I to hear such sincere expressions of concern from our friends
from around the world. It is indeed a small world now, and it is
conmforting to know we have such good friends.
To the point...under the circumstances I don't think it is appropriate
to ask people not to discuss these events on our list. During these
days of uncertainty it is reassuring to hear from our friends from
around the country and around the world. HOWEVER... all of you may not
want to be constantly reminded ...and that's OK too.
SO..here's what I would like to do. If you want to discuss the WTC, or
other current event not related to our professional work, please start
your subject line with CHAT:
as in CHAT: WTC
That way, if a person isn't interested, all they have to do is hit the
delete key. We use CHAT on genealogy lists and it works very well.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall
pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend,
oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This
much we pledge--and more.---President John F. Kennedy, Inaugural
Address, January 20, 1961
