Subject: White and UV LEDs, cheap

Here's a source for $1.75 white LEDs, or $35 ultraviolet LEDs

I've never heard of this company. Is it real, or a scam? Can't tell what
a "5mm" package is, it might be tiny surface-mount style of device.

What surface brightness is typically achived by white LED chips nowdays?
Maybe they could be used to replace incandescent bulbs and pinholes in
some optics demonstrations. If $1.75 gets you a 5000mcd device, how
bright is a $20 white LED? Brighter than incandescing tungsten?
