Doug, I'd say it's definitely worth the money. I use it as Dale does,
coupled to an interface box, and in a zero-technology way. Without the
interface, I replace the little can that comes with the device by a large
crush-the-can type can...dunking the can in a beaker of hot water gives a
dramatic response in the cylinder (I put a 200 g mass on top)- you can get
across the basics of a heat engine by having another beaker of room temp
water to re-set the device.

My one complaint - you can knock the thing over and break the glass
cylinder. This has happened to both of ours. The glass is enclosed in
plastic, so it's not a safety issue, but it doesn't work nearly so well
when the glass is broken!! In other words, handle with care.

Anyone from Pasco out there? Can I get replacement glass cylinders so I
don't have to buy a brand new one??
