It sounds as if I pulled off quite some action and discussion with my
initial request. Thanks for all the contributions and experimenting which
seems to include some rather involved physics. A special Wow to Dale who
has been successful so far. I will try to reproduce his experiment as soon
as I have time. There may be a way to even tune the experiment to get a
higher back lash jump, but 2 feet are not bad. From Dale's description it
seems to be necessary for the ball to float on the water surface as
ping-pong balls would do almost perfectly. The question is however if it
works better or not when the ball emerges a little deeper into the water. I
guess all this has to be tried by experimenting. Since I now learned that
the effect at least takes place I am motivated again.
