Subject: Re: Air-bearing Gyroscopes
Several years ago we found it necessary to increase the number of Ealing
air-gyros and, due to lack of availability, ended up making our own. We
found that the 4" diameter steel balls could be purchased from an
industrial company in Vancouver (about $300 each), we had our shop produced
an identical copy of the Ealing model. This required some machine work on
the balls and an aluminum cup coated with an epoxy surface. The technique
was simple and the results were excellent. If you need more information,
let me know.
