Mary Anne,

We also buy activation foils from Aesar, as cited by Wolfgang, for the 482 nuclear course.
For the undergrad activation lab, we use PbI2 (lead iodide). It is a yellow powder that has a half life of about 20 min. in an ampule. They can get five half-lives in an hour and half of counting, works pretty well. Also, it activates fast so I can recharge the samples over lunch for the afternoon lab.
I think the indium foils are about 40 min. half life.
