Description: This demonstration shows the independance of hozizontal motion (the cart) and vertical motion (the ball's path) of a single system. Instructions: The track with be leveled and the cart tested before you arrive. The "levelness" may very across the table in the room, so moving of the track to another location (even on the table) might throw off the level of the track. The Howitzer is attached to a Dynamics Cart. The ball is shot straight up when the cart passes a photogate trigger. The ball then follows a trajectory and lands back in the cart. The cart must be moving at a constant velocity for this demonstration to work. Hazards: Keep an eye on that ball, should it miss it's target (this is unlikely, but can happen) and roll around the room. Parts: One PASCO Howitzer apparatus mounted on a cart One dynamics cart track One PASCO ball Purchased/Built: purchased Quant. in Demo Room: 1 Source: Pasco Scientific
