Curie Temperature

Description: A steel paper clip is suspended by a magnet. Heat the paper clip with the gas torch until it drops off of the magnet. When the paper clip cools, it will again be attracted to the magnet.

Physics:
At the Curie Temperature, the ferromagnetic material becomes paramagnetic.

Parts: Assembly (with stand, magnet, wire and paper clip), propane torch and lighter.
