Description: Hold a bulb of neon gas at low pressure near a Tesla coil and show that electrodes are not necessary for the maintenance of discharge.
Instructions: A small sealed glass tube, approx. 25cm long, contains low pressure Neon gas. Hold the tube with one hand and bring the hand held Tesla coil to the other. The tube will glow bright orange when the Tesla coil arc's to the glass.
