Description: The purpose of the Longitudinal wave demonstrator is to show propagation, reflection, superposition and various resonance modes analogous to those of many musical instruments. The apparatus consists of twenty-one vertically mounted black steel bars on parallel rails. The rods are mounted or pivoted at a point slightly above the center of gravity and coupled together with two long springs. The top ends of the rods are painted white and have a fluorescent dot on one side for demonstrations using ultraviolet light.
